Challenge for life

In 4 weeks time, I will be returning to full time work, something I haven't done for 16 months. And I'm going to have Saturday mornings back & weekday evenings free. Which means I will be at a loose end & potentially slightly irritating to Dan, Megan & Baxter. Obviously one of the main things I will be doing is spending more time with my family. But to me that is a given, I realised I need something to focus on. Maybe I was a project manager in a former life? Who knows? But I'm not one to sit on my bottom all day so time will tell depending on how far I get with said projects.

I sent an incredibly long list to Dan via email the other day about my plan for making our house a home. So project one is sorted, together we will be focusing on a single room at a time. Starting with the kitchen, moving to the living room, then onto the bedrooms - three seems a large number now I've committed to said project & finally the bathroom. We're not doing anything massive, but just making it tidier & giving it a bit of love. Actually cleaning out the kitchen cupboards, getting rid of the obscene amounts of Tupperware that have appeared magically over the last few months & actually having a place for Megan's & Baxter's toys instead of being left on the living room floor. The thought of getting started on this is exciting me now - I never thought I'd be one for getting excited about home interiors & discovering great websites like Wayfair, but it's happened.

Project two is going to be a challenge for life. I love food & I've developed a love of cooking & baking over the years. At my last count, I have 73 recipe books. I think there are a few more lurking in the loft but I will hunt them out. Like everyone else, I probably use about 10% of these books & then when I do use the odd one, it's for one recipe only. So my challenge, which will probably take me for the rest of my life as cookery books seem to be a staple birthday present bought for me, is to cook every single recipe in all my cookbooks. I will blog about them, and take a picture of the finished article - I know there might be a few different versions of spaghetti bolognese but it's important to try the variations.

Although I have 4 weeks left at my evening job & it's been a difficult decision to make, I cannot wait for that free time in the evenings. Going without evenings has been something I've become immune to & has made me more appreciative of time with people. I've got some lovely activities planned in the next four weeks and I am relishing the prospect of starting full time work in September.
